btn networks announce special event series for 2014
Raleigh, N.C. -- btn networks founder and CEO Brent Woodcox announced a new brand and special event series for the 2014 Playoffs?!? league season today.
The new brand has been dubbed "after the numbers," an obvious reference to the acclaimed, long-running series behind the numbers which aired its series finale in December.
Former showrunner and executive producer of behind the numbers, Brent Woodcox said, "The king is dead! Long live the king! It was an absolute honor and privilege to bring this league the best fantasy entertainment it has ever known for seven seasons. Now it's time to turn the page."
after the numbers is rumored to be following a similar format as its predecessor with online content including podcasts, blog posts and videos. The new series will once again feature guests that have become beloved by the former show's large and faithful audience. However, Woodcox promised there would be some surprises and that the series would break new ground in format.
"behind the numbers pushed the envelope from day one so it's only fitting that this sequel series would expand once again our conception of what fantasy news and opinion can be," said the showrunner.
Former btn correspondent Shannon McDougal will also join the after the numbers spin-off's staff as she transitions into her new role as btn networks co-owner and COO beginning in January 2015.
When reached for comment, McDougal stated, "Just think of all the good you people could be doing in the world if you didn't spend so much time thinking about fantasy football."
Woodcox responded, "The commitment level of the members of the Playoffs?!? league has never been higher and enthusiasm for btn content continues to grow. We couldn't be more excited for this new chapter."
The series premiere of after the numbers is slated for release this week.
